She was the new Children's Ministry Director. She had to get people involved fast. She knew she had just one chance to make an impact.

In your children's ministry, do people march or watch? Do you have that special ingredient that makes kids want to be iNVOLVED with your lessons and adults to be involved in your ministry. Do you have what it takes to motivate people to want to march?

Think about it. You might need a strategy for iNVOLVEMENT. Not just any old iNVOLVEMENT. I'm talking about a 3 dimensional approach.

1. Kids understand through iNVOLVEMENT

2. iNVOLVED adults become valuable workers

3. You can even iNVOLVE yourself in customizing this curriculum.

iNVOLVEMENT is the key. And that's where our curriculum strategy comes in.

Hey, I've walked in your Sunday morning shoes. I've seen what's out there and I know what options you have before you. I know that you don’t need more of the same. You don’t need something that turns kids into spectators, repels workers and leaves your pastor unenthusiastic. You need a ministry that generates iNVOLVEMENT. Period.

Forget the run-of-the-mill curriculum that “teaches a lesson.” What you need is a learning experience. What you TEACH means nothing. What kids LEARN means everything. Just because you teach it, does not mean they learn it. Kids learn when they are engaged. They not only need to HEAR it and SEE it, they need to DO it. They need to be iNVOLVED in the process.

What does NOT work...

• DUMBED-DOWN LESSONS. As important as values are, there is more to life than values. Personal faith in the Lord will take kids where mere values can't. Life comes at kids earlier and harder. They need real tools for real life. 

• CONSTANT VIDEO. Video is sometimes helpful but videos alone do not help kids understand the principles of life. There is no substitute for the understanding that comes through iNVOLVEMENT. That takes real people.

• CARTOONY IMAGES. Cartoony presentations of Biblical ideas depletes its relevance. The Bible contains real life stories about real life stuff.

• CRAFTS. In this fast-changing age, popsicle sticks just don't cut it. 'Nuff said.

You need a STRATEGY. You need a PLAN. You need something you can call your own.

So what is Kidz Blitz' Strategy for iNVOLVEMENT? It is a Children's Church Bible Strategy that generates participation from kids AND parents.

First, let’s settle something. This curriculum is NOT for every church. Honestly, not everyone wants something like this. Traditional churches with typical children's directors who have settled into doing everything themselves might feel uneasy with this approach. I'll explain.

Let's walk through the specifics of how the Kidz Blitz Strategy works..

Kidz Blitz teaching methods iNVOLVE kids. These methods are interactive, highly engaging and extremely motivating. They create desire in kids to participate. Here are a few.

1. Mind-blowing games engage kids. We know it’s hard to find cool games that work in a group setting, so let us take care of that for you. We provide a cool, Z Street game every week. And let me tell you, we know games. For years we have been using games to captivate kids in Kidz Blitz Live events. Sometimes the groups number in the hundreds and sometimes they number in the thousands. We know what makes a game WORK and what doesn't. We have learned the secret: a game doesn’t have to be big, high-tech, expensive, or complicated to generate iNVOLVEMENT. It simply has to pass the one acid test...Is it as much fun to WATCH as it is to PLAY.

Keep in mind competition is a great tool when used correctly. It’s a fact: It takes competition to engage boys. You will LOSE THE BOYS if you are afraid of using competitive games. Families with boys know their sons turn everything into a contest. For example, boys will race to see who can get into the car first? Boys are hard-wired to compete. When you keep the competition friendly, non-athletic and even humorous; kids will connect with what you are teaching. Don’t be so spiritual you can’t play a competitive game that allows kids to be kids.

2. Fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants skits bring focus to the application. I'll let you in on another secret: when a skit happens IN THE ROOM among the kids--instead of ON the stage--the kids feel like they are a part of what’s happening. They are involved. The kids FEEL the skit. Quick skits are not only easy to learn (no rehearsals) they provide a jolt to the main idea of the lesson. Each week we provide impact skits with intriguing characters playing short roles.

These adult/teen skit characters are a minimal commitment. They are people who can enter, play their part in 2 minutes and leave. Characters do not have to be children’s workers. It’s better if they are not. You can easily get volunteers because the time commitment is short and safe. And because this is a safe step, you can expect many of these people to later become full-fledged leaders in your children's ministry.

HINT: Kids are not likely to be
disruptive when they are INVOLVED

3. Go ahead, Make A Scene! Tell your Bible story by pulling kids up front to act the parts and say the lines as you prompt them. We'll tell you how. No rehearsals, just on-the-spot involvement. Just "Make A Scene", as we call it.

4. Cool memory verse games iNVOLVE kids and help them remember. Ever try allowing kids to arrange themselves in order so that the words on their white t-shirts write out the memory verse? This is one example of ideas we provide to get kids iNVOLVED in learning the memory verse. By the time you're done, they'll know the verse.

5. Shout it out! Nothing is wrong with kids shouting out loud as long as they say a phrase that reinforces the lesson. In our "Shout It Out" game we reveal one letter at a time of a key phrase until only 5 are left. The kids won't be able to contain themselves. Give them the cue and they'll "shout it out". Talk about getting kids iNVOLVED!

iNVOLVEMENT=UNDERSTANDING

6. Play it Back! How can you review without saying the same thing over and over? iNVOLVE kids in playing a cool game with review questions. You'll be surprised how much they remember...and understand.

Remember, multi-media is NOT enough. Watching a video helps them remember but not necessarily understand. There is no substitute for a real person in the life of a kid. Videos have a place, but no video ever got kids iNVOLVED like this.

Each lesson comes in 2 formats, PDF and MS Word. Yes, you get both. With the PDF version you can print it out immediately and use it as is. With MS Word you will be able to customize the lessons to fit your children’s ministry. Make it reflect you. When you print it out to give to your teachers, it’s exactly the way you want it.

Here’s what I mean. You can JAZZ it up, REARRANGE it, and REWORD it.

Of course, you don't have to make major changes. You might want to use it as it is and simply change the lesson sequence occasionally. The choice is yours.
